Mexico Energy Efficiency Seminars
ECEE member Alliance to Save Energy will lead US energy efficiency companies on an energy efficiency mission seminar, focusing on the hotel sector, to Cancun and Mexico City June 21 – 25, 1999. To confirm your company’s participation as educational speakers to identify energy-saving opportunities for hotel owners, financial, general and maintenance managers, contact ECEE.

Philippines Meters
The Republic of the Philippines has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank towards the cost of the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) Distribution Project. MERALCO invites sealed bids for the supply of metering equipment. Details and specifications are provided in the bid documents. Bids are due July 16, 1999.

Russia Construction Materials

  • Region-Sever, a company involved in design and construction, seeks to represent US construction material suppliers, and is especially interested in energy-saving technologies for northern climates.
  • Factoria, a distributor of construction materials, heaters and boilers, seeks a US partner to organize assembly of portable electric fan heaters in Russia. Factoria will provide a warehouse of 2,000sq.m., labor, production management, and distribution of products; the US partner is expected to supply equipment and provide managerial expertise.
  • Kyrgyzkurulush, a company specializing in building and road construction, and door and window production, seeks a US partner to establish a joint venture to produce roofing materials, doors and windows. Kyrgyzkurulush offers industrial space, infrastructure, labor and technical support, the US partner would provide modern technology, equipment and managerial expertise.
  • Milir, a company involved in construction, remodeling and distribution of construction materials, seeks a US partner to jointly construct and sell prefabricated buildings. Milir will provide personnel, construction and licensing; the US partner is expected to contribute materials and managerial expertise.
  • The Department of Construction of the Sakhalin region announces a tender for a sketch design of low-rise residential housing for mass construction in the Sakhalin region. Tenders are due July 1, 1999.

Egypt Ballasts Joint Venture
Hegazy Trading and Contracting Co. would like to start a new business in manufacturing electronic transformers and electronic ballasts. They are interested in sourcing alliances from the US to start this new project; Hegazy would provide the land, building, main supplies and manpower and would like the US company to provide the machinery and the technical expertise.

Hemispheric Energy Efficiency Session
The US Department of Energy is hosting the IV Hemispheric Energy Ministers Summit in New Orleans, July 28 – 30, 1999. The initial goals of the energy efficiency breakout session include exploring issues and methods to increase deployment of energy efficiency technologies and practices throughout the Americas in partnership with private industry. To help shape the agenda for the energy efficiency track or express interest or other feedback, please contact ECEE.
