China Energy Efficiency Mission Seminar May 25 - 26
ECEE Member Alliance to Save Energy will lead US energy efficiency companies on an energy efficiency mission seminar, focusing on the industrial sector, with some emphasis on the chemical and petrochemical industries and the electric power plant industry. The seminar will be held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province May 25 – 26, 1999. To participate as an educational speaker or attend the seminar, contact ECEE.

1999 China Energy Conference and Exhibition
US energy efficiency companies are invited to participate in the California Energy Commission’s 1999 China Energy Conference and Exhibition in Irvine, CA May 24 – 26, 1999. It is expected that up to 150 delegates from Chinese companies, state-owned enterprises and government agencies will attend the conference, giving US companies a unique chance to meet with the Chinese companies looking for ways to make their facilities energy efficient, reduce air pollution and explore options for on-site power and steam generation and cooling.

Russia Energy Efficient Construction Materials
Dalnevostochnaya Construction Company, established in 1996, seeks a US partner to establish a joint venture to produce low-cost energy-efficient construction materials.

Brazil Energy Efficient Technologies
Matel Servicos Ltda, a company that provides electronics and telecommunications services, wishes to represent or distribute capacitor banks for power-factor correction. In addition, it seeks partners to expand into new energy saving and energy efficient technologies, including controls, meters, energy management systems and lighting.

Silvestre Alvarenga Representacao Ltda, a Brazilian representative that operates in the electric and environmental sectors, wishes to represent US manufacturers or suppliers of energy efficient equipment used in power distribution systems and industrial installations, including HID lamps, meters and controls.

Ukraine District Heating Loan
The European bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is preparing a project in Ukraine to rehabilitate and rationalize municipal district heating. The project will consist of: a priority investment program focusing on rehabilitation and energy saving investments, a financing and operational improvement program, and project implementation support.

Hungarian Energy Efficiency Conferences
The Hungarian Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers invites US companies to attend its international conference "Energy Efficiency, Energy Markets and Environmental Protection at the End of the Millennium" in Eger, Hungary June 2 – 4, 1999, which is expected to attract around 200 Eastern European energy professionals. AEE is also looking for sponsors of receptions and a banquet during its Regional Training and Conference, "Energy Efficiency: Current Market Progress in Central and Eastern Europe," June 7 – 11, 1999, which is expected to attract around 75 officers and delegates of the AEE chapters in Eastern Europe and the NIS.

Financing Corner: Asia Environmental Project Funding
The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and the US Asia Environmental Partnership are offering a total of $1 million in financing (up to $750,000 in aggregate debt financing and up to $250,000 in grant) for innovative environmental management and/or technology projects (including demand-side management) in Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Applicants must be privately owned and operated US nongovernmental organizations with relevant experience in Asia, or a consortium of business entities. The deadline for proposals is April 26, 1999.
