Financing Corner: NASDA Grants Available for Latin America The National Association of State Development Agencies, with funding from the US Agency for International Development, is offering grants for US firms to take advantage of environmental opportunities in Latin America. Priority sectors include energy efficiency/energy production, pollution prevention/cleaner production, and industrial wastewater treatment. Grants range up to $10,000 to be matched by the applicant. Proposals are due by January 29, 1999. NASDA is also offering grants for the Andean region of Latin America for pollution prevention/cleaner production activities in the following priority sectors: metal finishing/electroplating/metal surface treatment, tanneries, non-ferrous metal mining and smelting, food processing. Grants range up to $15,000 to be matched in a ratio of at least 2:1 by the applicant. Proposals are due by February 18, 1999. Brazil Energy Efficiency Distributor JCH Consultoria Eletrotecnica and Cogefe Engenharia, Brazilian firms, wish to represent US energy efficiency technologies (e.g. process controls, lighting, building materials) in Brazil. They also wish to provide technical assistance for the purchasers and supply them with spare parts, guaranteeing a full post-sale service. JCH requests proposals from companies that can include technical assistance, in the form of training and the transfer of know-how. Brazil HVAC/Refrigeration Ecobac Biotecnologia Ltda seeks to expand the line of products in represents, for which purpose it wishes to contact US manufacturers and distributors of products for the treatment of potable water for industries, commercial establishments and households, and products for the treatment of water used in industrial refrigeration processes, including HVAC and refrigeration products. Thailand Energy Efficiency Technical Products Ltd wants to represent US manufacturers of boiler and heater solar energy equipment such as solar water systems for medium scale industry, as well as hotels and hospitals. Technical Products is also looking for equipment used in industrial energy saving and reusable sector, such as hot air recovery, motors, HVAC, etc. Hong Kong Controls, Lighting, Sensors Gold Well Group Ltd wants to represent a US Company with a line of products in Energy Efficiency Applications for commercial and industrial facilities. Gold Well Group Ltd serves as a Hong Kong agent for Japanese energy-saving equipment and would like to source similar equipment from the US. Argentina Energy Efficient Building Materials POLWER S.R.L. wishes to contact US companies in the field of insulation material or energy-efficient products, with the purpose of establishing marketing, distribution and/or representation agreements. Specifically, it is interested in HVAC/Refrigeration, insulation, sealants, window systems, and other building materials. Argentina Motors and Drives CRAM ELECTRO wishes to associate with US companies operating in the field of power equipment and targeting similar markets, who wish to transfer technology and marketing know-how for these products. It is particularly interested in clean energy products and energy-efficiency equipment and systems (such as motors and electronic adjustable speed drives). Argentina Energy Efficiency EMA S.A. is interested in contacting US companies operating in the field of power equipment and systems, who wish to exchange new product developments and establish reciprocal trade agreements. It is particularly interested in representing energy-efficient systems and equipment (such as HVAC, energy management, electric meters, motors, etc.). Colombia Energy Efficiency Distributor Jairo Carvajal Navia, a Colombian independent consultant, wishes to contact US companies in the field of energy efficient systems to represent their equipment in Colombia. Sri Lanka Lighting Enviro Services Intl is interested in promoting environmentally friendly products in Sri Lanka and wishes to enter into agreements with a US Company to promote and sell such products. Sri Lanka Boiler Haycarb Limited is undertaking a project to produce electricity from the combustion of plant flue gasses. They want to hear from US companies with expertise with power generation and will consider innovative technologies to achieve their project goals. They would also like quotes for the steam turbine power plant equipment, including turbines, boilers, compressors, etc. Slovakia ESCO JV OFZ, a ferroalloy manufacturer, is seeking a US ESCO to enter into a cooperative joint-venture arrangement (possibly a BOO) for specific energy efficiency-related improvements to their operations at their Siroka facilities. OFZ is extremely interested in realizing significant energy-related cost savings to help maintain its continued profitability. Pakistan Electricity Meters The Water and Power Development Authority invited bid from eligible bidders from member countries of the World Bank for the supply of 16000 nos. 3 phase energy meters, 15/90 amperes. HVAC Asia 99 HQ Link is organizing a conference on Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning in cooperation with the Air Filtration & Purification Asia 99 in Singapore from July 10 - 13, 1999. The organizers invite companies to make presentations. Opportunity for Leadership Entity: Beijing Energy-Efficiency and Renewable Energy Demonstration Building The US Department of Energy recently entered into an agreement with the Peoples Republic of China Ministry of Science and Technology to determine the feasibility of jointly constructing an energy efficient, mid-size office building demonstration project in downtown Beijing, China. DOE is identifying an entity which will volunteer to work directly with the buildings primary intended occupant, The Administrative Centre for Chinas Agenda 21, in leading and being responsible for the execution of this demonstration project. If the project proves feasible, the selected entity will solicit US and Chinese companies to enter bids to supply the energy-efficient products and services to be incorporated into the building. The Demonstration Center will allow suppliers an opportunity in an official Chinese venue to demonstrate their products and services to the worlds largest consumer market.
